Most of our horses don't come from the auction, we mostly get our horses from owners that didn't have the knowledge required to own a horse, but our plan is to also take horses that are going for meat *auction* for winter 2010. A lot of people compare horses and dogs, or go to the auction and bring back a new friend that only cost them $30. Some people have no idea of the expenses/fees involved with the purchase of a horse. We also receive horses that are green which mean that they were never handled therefore no regular care like dewormers, trims etc. We give them the time that they need to trust and respect humans. Afterward when the horse is ready to leave we choose a proper household which has been selected with specific criteria. For us, the most important thing is to make sure that when one of our animals finds a new home they will have all the TLC required to own an animal. We have a link "ready for adoption" where you can see if we have horses or other animals available at the moment. All of our sales come with a contract that makes sure that the animal will be taking care of. We want to be certain that the animal will not be rescued again in the future. When we refer to "rescue", we are talking about a horse for whatever the circumstance/reason can no longer be kept by its current owner...keep in mind that some owner chose rescue instead of auction, because they care about their horses, because they want to make sure they will go to a good place & yes some other horses have been neglected...
Be sure to look under the link "before/after", this is a part of our mission!
